    Following the Covid19 outbreak and national guidance we have taken the difficult and necessary decision to suspend all face to face consultations. In doing so we have tried to balance the health and well-being of all.

    Appointments

    The practice is only allowing patients into the building by prior arrangement following a telephone triage consultation with the GP or to see the Practice Nurse.

    Prescriptions

    All prescription requests should be completed in the foyer and placed in the box outside. Alternatively, they may request an online account to order. Patients need to nominate a chemist for their prescription.

    Urgent (Same Day) Appointments

    For acute illness we can generally offer an appointment on the day with a GP. We may also offer an appointment at the Cannock Network which runs out of GP suite at Cannock hospital and can offer out of hours and weekend appointments.

    Our receptionists will ask for some information about the illness in order to establish a suitable appointment slot to offer. All receptionists have training in confidentiality, please help us to help you.

    For urgent appointments and home visits you may not be able to see the doctor of your choice.

    General Information

    The Practice operates a pre bookable and book on the day appointments system. The receptionist will pre-book an appointment for routine issues where possible with the clinician of your choice and a time which can be planned for. For acute illness see 'Urgent (Same Day) Appointments' above.

    Our receptionists will ask for some information about the illness in order to establish a suitable appointment slot to offer. All receptionists have training in confidentiality, please help us to help you.

    Online Appointments

    This facility makes a proportion of our appointments available for booking online. If you cannot find a suitable appointment please contact the surgery by telephone and speak with a receptionist.

    Cannock Practices Network Surgery

    Dr Manickam and Partner's Surgery are one of a number of local GP Practices participating in the Cannock Practices Network Surgery based in the GP Suite on Level 2 of Cannock Hospital. This Surgery is open during the week and on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

    Bookings are made via your GP Surgery to see a local GP or Nurse Practitioner, for routine appointments, outside of normal surgery hours.

    It is staffed by doctors, nurses and Reception staff who also work in one of the practices. 

    Monday to Friday

    When all of our weekday appointments are fully booked, the Network appointments can be offered by our Reception staff after 1:30pm each day to our patients.

    Saturday and Sunday

    In addition, pre-bookable appointments are also available in the Cannock Practices Network Surgery at Cannock Hospital. If, for example, work commitments make it difficult for you to come to our surgeries during the week, you can call us any time on Mondays to Fridays to pre-book your appointment.

    Chaperones

    If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. For further information please see our Chaperones policy.

    Cancelling an Appointment

    If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

    You can use one of the following methods:

    4. In Person: Call into your surgery and let the receptionist know in person.

    We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.

    As part of our commitment to all our patients we monitor the efficient use of appointments. If a patient regularly fails to attend a booked appointment, the practice reserves the right to remove them and their family from the practice list.
